The past few weeks have been hard for me to create. Art can be difficult when it seems like the world is falling apart. There’s a lot of talk about apples and what to do with bad ones. As a person often called to take a look at plants and advise on why one might not be doing so well, I have to say that a very common factor for why a plant does not bear fruit is likely root rot. And unfortunately, if you’re noticing the effects of root rot in a plant- unexplained wilting, lack of flowers, not bearing fruit- that means that the plant is unlikely to come back, even if you cut the rot out. At this time, it’s best to invest your labor elsewhere- but also one might be interested in checking if the soil that the plant is rooted in is the cause of the rot. The most common error is overwatering, but if you water your plants on a regular, recommended, schedule- you may still develop root rot if your tree is planted in poor-draining soil. So the soil must be amended before planting a new tree in that location. If this metaphor is too obtuse, I apologize. The position of law enforcement as it stands in America is attractive to people who would abuse power. It is not enough to cut the rot out- the problem will keep happening. We must look at the system itself and realize that there can be no good apples if the tree is hollow. We cannot keep watering a tree that only hoards what we give it and returns us with withered branches and sour fruits. Cut down the tree. Defund the police. If you’re surprised to see me speak out on political matters, I’m not sorry. -- source link
