They were discovered to be part of the nucleus of Comet Churyumov–Gerasimenko (CG) by Rosetta, a robotic spacecraft launched by European Space Agency which began orbiting the comet in early August. The cliffs, imaged by Rosetta two weeks ago, are about one kilometer high. -- source link
