eldochflamma:gloriousmonsters:korrathefirebender:thegrumpiesttortoise:WOMEN: don’t be successful - you might hurt a man’s feelings. #sexism #wtf #heteronormativetoo #whataloadofbollocksAfter reading this, this is all I am going to try to do. To succeed. And they say male privilege doesn’t exist? How about instead of telling women to stop trying to be successful and you know achieve their dreams (GOD FORBID WOMEN TRY TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS) how about teaching men and boys that women are human beings and they should stop throwing a tantrum about women succeeding. The kind of man who will be intimidated by my success is exactly the kind of man I don’t want.As my parents have been buying a shitton of books with names like ‘The Flipside of Feminisim’ and ‘Domestic Tranquility’ and ‘Men and Marriage’ and I have been therefore unwillingly exposed to a lot of this bullcrap, I feel qualified to comment on this. You see, what all those books up there have in common is saying this exact same thing - ‘Girls, don’t succeed. It scares men and hurts their poor feelings. But it’s fine if men are better than you, women like that!’Never once do they consider the line above that I bolded - that the kind of person, let alone man, who would want me to not succeed because it makes them feel threatened, is the kind of person I don’t want in my life, and frankly nobody should have in their lives. But it kind of goes with the whole anti-feminist rhetoric, from what I’ve seen of it, being centered around one thing - an abject fear of women having any kind of power, of not tending to men 24/7, of - God forbid, apparently - being better than men. Any man. Let alone their occasional fearful references to the ‘disease of lesbianism’, which is of course due to not fulfilling their proper womanly role and bowing down to men.-_-reblogging again for 10/10 perfect statement -- source link
