Dear wonderful friends,Last night, the Museum announced that Nancy Spector, currently the Deputy Director and Chief Curator of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation, will be joining team Brooklyn as our Chief Curator and Deputy Director in April 2016. This is a critical and historic appointment that will help us envision and advance the Museum of our dreams. In her 29 years with the Guggenheim, Nancy has curated countless ground-breaking and internationally heralded retrospectives and presentations. She is bold, creative, resourceful, and brilliant. She has envisioned masterful presentations at the American Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, launched the artistic vision behind Guggenheim Bilbao and Berlin. She is known as one of the most progressive museum thinkers in the entire globe and she believes deeply in what it means to define the museum of the future. And she knows our community—she has lived within walking distance of the Museum for many years! Our current Chief Curator Kevin Stayton is now poised to take on an historic and critical new role as the Brooklyn Museum’s Deputy Director and Director of Collections and History, providing imperative leadership of our vast and world-renowned collection from all times, cultures and disciplines. There is much to celebrate at the Brooklyn Museum this season and in the New Year, when Nancy begins her work with us in April. I hope you will join us soon and often in the months and years to come. Talk soon, Anne Pasternak -- source link
