theliterarywolf:takashi0:grantcary:He’s a Dragon // Он - дракон [2015] #hey it’s that Russian dragon-fucker movie I was talking aboutLit you can’t just say that and NOT give more context. Okay, so I was skimming through Amazon Prime one day and I saw that this movie was included with it.I’d seen some discussion on it before on some terato blogs before the Purge but I hadn’t watched it until a few weeks ago.Basically:Long time ago in some Russian fantasy village they had a ritual of offering several virgin maidens to a dragon so it would fuck off and not wreck their shit for a while. One time they do the thing and the dragon chooses one of the offered girls much to the chagrin of her boyfriend. However, the boyfriend in question goes after the dragon this time and after seeing that the dragon killed and ate said girlfriend. Boyfriend kills dragon in revenge and goes down in history as a hero.Fast forward a few dozen years and we have a king about to marry his youngest daughter off to a Duke who happens to be a descendant of that same hero. And you know what would be amazing for this wedding? To recreate the SAME EXACT ritual that was used to sacrifice virgin girls to a dragon as the wedding ceremony! Because… Potatoes. So they put the bride-to-be in a boat and sing the ritual song and just as her betrothed is pulling her boat from the water, wouldn’t you know it? A NEW DRAGON SHOWS UP AND KIDNAPS HER.So she’s whisked away to an island that is actually dragon skeleton (but don’t worry about it) and through trials and tribulations she finds out that the dragon isn’t all that he seems… Hm…All in all, it’s a decent Fantasy/Romance movie with your typical ‘Don’t get too close, I’m a monster!’/‘No, you just need my help to control your inner-monster and see your true beauty!’/‘Oh my God, you’re right! I love you!’/‘I love you too!’ set-up.I was honestly surprised that the effects for the dragon (as little as we see of it) were as decent as they were -- source link
