My father, whom I had been sending daily messages to confirm my safety, recommended that Lindsay and I visit the Circus Maximus: Where the Roman Chariot races used to take place. We followed a street south-west of the Colosseum to find an open field. This structure shows the largest amount of change from Ancient Rome, as little to nothing is left of the magnificent structure. Above, I have included a designed assumption of what the structure may have looked like back in its active days.As the picture above shows one side of the stadium, Lindsay and I rested on the grass on the other side of the stadium, enjoying some Italian coffee from a nearby cafe, along with some biscotti and pastries we had picked up the night before after dinner. After chatting in the grass for a while and finishing our snack, we headed towards the Roman Forum just north of where we were. -- source link
