neoliberalismkills:neoliberalismkills:neoliberalismkills:so let me tell you a story about being homeless in fucking America. (new, updated, and shit has gotten even worse)up until very recently, I was living in my car. my car (her name’s Willow, after Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s lesbian witch best friend, of course) is wonderful but very old and beaten up and would never in any universe pass inspection ever again. I also don’t have insurance; I had been doing camming/clips, but that’s impossible to continue in a damn car.so when I got pulled over for the no inspection tag, I got a ticket for the no insurance, which cost more than insurance would. surprise! couldn’t pay that either.so, what did the law in all its infinite wisdom do? the logical next step, which was to put out a warrant for my arrest that was over double the ticket price! because under capitalism, what makes more sense than to charge broke, homeless people more money for not having money?today I was pulled over again and I thought it was over, that I was going to jail. the cop, after insulting and demeaning me for a good long while as I smiled through grinding teeth, decided he wouldn’t take me in to the prison for my warrant but instead, write me TWO new tickets to “force” me to do “what I should have already done”.the violation citations, along with the original warrant, are pictured above. I am writing a novel, a novel that is going to change my life. it’s guaranteed to be published, and I’ve given myself the incredible and immense task of finishing it in a month. I’ve been working hard, day and night, to do this. this will be my income. this will change my life. getting this book published is my dream; all my hopes and aspirations, my ability to take care of my family, my loved ones, to get the help for my disabilities I’ve always needed, to finally, finally be able to live without fear of homelessness or starvation ever again, and to write a book with the representation we need in science fiction: non-binary, genderless, and trans main characters; lesbians and bisexual women; drug addicts and sex workers that AREN’T treated like shit; the book I always wanted to read.going to prison for having been homeless will hurt and destroy a lot of things. please help me stay out. you’ve helped a lot so far; if you could keep it up, my paypal email is lavender.rabell@gmail.com and there’s a donate button on my blog. thank you all yet again and always forevermore for being here for me and supporting me and saving my ass from the fires of capitalism repeatedly.(sidenote: you like how they’re threatening me with the “embarrassment” of getting arrested, like that’s somehow going to make me stop being broke? capitalism is a fucking trip)so I called both courts and there’s really nothing I can do and no payment plans. the tickets, I will wait till the 6th and then request an extension, so the warrant is really what I want to focus on as the immediate concern. thank you all for your help so far, and please keep this circulating. <3HI WE’RE AT THE HALFWAY POINT I BELIEVE!! keep this going and thank you so incredibly much!! if the momentum keeps up, I could be free of the warrant in a few days and then the tickets and then I’m FREE. thank you!! -- source link
