Another glorious day in the Corps! A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm. Every meal’s a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade! I LOVE the Corps!my hair is all riled up from having the roots bleached and toned a few days ago so i’m just letting it do its own thing with minimal input. i’d forgotten how MUCH of it there was, and how willful. how it is more a cohesive, single shape, able to be sculpted somewhat but never silky or floppy or many of the other things we know about “good hair”. i always identified strongly with Pratchett’s character of Susan Sto Helit, Death’s granddaughter, and not just because she slays monsters with pragmatism and has a penchant for slim black clothing–her hair is described as being white and absolutely hostile, a thing she spends her adolescence battling with rancor but, eventually, reaching adulthood, learns to allow to style itself, the hair being described in the books as arranging itself “like a nest of kittens”, and really, there is no better descriptor of the relationships between intractable hair and its owners, minders, sufferers. -- source link
