Spotlight graphics for the Fencer/ Duelist. I love the lore that Justin wrote for this, and we are realizing we have a really organic way of writing/ creating art for this project. Sometimes Justin will write part of the story or lore that informs the artwork, and sometimes I draw a bird and it inspires a character that we needed to fill a specific role. Then I might attempt to role play the bird (badly) and Justin is like “lol nah I think they’re not drunk,” and then we end up with an awesome character! :D Role playing is still something I don’t have a handle on lol. I wish I had played D&D as a kid, but I wasn’t exposed to it until college, and just started playing my first real campaign this year with some very patient friends.Text from the backing card:There’s more than one way to settle a dispute in the Kingdom. When words fail, duelists take center stage. Any bird of noble rank may challenge another to a duel in order to settle an argument or defend against an insult to their honor. Although duels are rarely fought to the death, it is perfectly legal for bouts between two combatants to end with only one standing. It is only due to long standing tradition and unspoken agreement that modern duels are cut short before loss of life occurs. While only noble birds may duel for honor, many birds make their living in arenas across the land in what has now become The Kingdom’s most popular sport. Birds of great skill compete in duelist tournaments hoping to catch the eye of a noble sponsor and nobles are often on the lookout for skilled dulests to put on retainer in case they are challenged themselves.
