As with more recent events in Bristol, the statue remained as repeated attempts to remove it or replace the statue and dedication “legally”, failed.1966 was the 50th anniversary of the Easter Rising, which led an Irish Republican activist to carry out "Operation Humpty Dumpty" overnight.
