I read and reread that article until the pages were ready to fall apart. She had just written Conundrum, and as a kid who never heard of the term transsexual - as it was termed then - it was an incredible story. Almost unbelievable. I am sorry to hear of her passing. She was a trailblazer - from being on the first successful expedition to the summit of Mount Everest to her own incredible journey to womanhood. She lived a full life.I kept that People issue under my bed. My mom took it back downstairs several times, but never asked the daughter she never knew she had why I was so fascinated with it. Deep down I think she must have suspected I was focussed on it for a reason. -- source link
