Glancing at the new SAT, more importance has been placed on the math portion, where males outperform females by an average of 30 points and a decrease in importance on the reading and writing portions of the exam where the gender gap is either non-existent or favoring females. The questions also appear to be tailored to upper class males, with questions on money exchange rates for international trips, hotel room taxation rates, and reading questions focused on engineering and other STEM topics which makes the test harder for females and anyone who’s not a rich white dude. It’s supposed to be a “more relevant” test, but the number of people who need to consider monetary exchange rates or hotel expenditures or city planning is heavily skewed towards the rich and white and male. -- source link
