possiblyimbiassed:ebaeschnbliah:gosherlocked:221bloodnun:221bloodnun:raggedyblue:221bloodnun:221bloodnun:A screen shot from my meta That’s Captain John Watson to You, Sherlock ‘ @monikakrasnorada Like, seriously, Sherlock. When did you ever discuss this that whole ‘romantic entanglement’ bit with John?Ooooo, that’s right’. In your head! You have to actually say these things outloud someday, Sherl.”Right ??? “ @themanandthemachine either Sherlock is that much more closed off with his feelings than we thought or the writers are dragging this ever longer. Both? I think both, more the latter but hey *shrugs*“”Sherlock and John both need serious lessons in communication. Neither one really likes to open up, and when Sherlock does try to speak, John interrupts or corrects him (which grossly makes Mary a John mirror in some respects). And who more than Sherlock is good at building walls around itself?Exactly @raggedyblueI did a meta the other day about the glass, because it mimics the Absolute Silence sign hanging in the The Diogenes Club during TAB. But, I just thought about this–and it’s been bugging me since the show aired–why three feet?Oh.Interesting. In his mind, Sherlock must be very busy with explaining his reasons against romantic entanglement to John. Whereas in the show - well. And I love the idea of the elephant glass (!) being the walls Sherlock builds around himself. @ebaeschnbliahYes, Sherlock is talking to himself inside his mind. And all the characers inside, are aspects of himself. TROI: Which confirms the feeling of duality that I sensed earlier in both of them. PICARD: Why didn’t you report it? TROI: Because, sir, I assumed at first it was the kind of duality we Betazeds feel in all of you. Even you, sir. When you approach a decision and ask yourself which way to go, who are you talking to? Quote: Star Trek, TNG, Lonely among usIndeed, who are we talking too when we try to decide something important on our own? To ourselves, of course. Not everyone has a mind palace though … or creates whole plays on an imagined stage to act those questions out …. in a very dramatic way. Thankfully Sherlock Holmes has, and in this adaptation we are allowed to watch how his mind works. That’s fascinating. :)))))SHERLOCK (to Eurus): Now, you … you just … you just went the wrong waylast time, that’s all. This time, get it right.@gosherlocked @221bloodnun @raggedyblue @sherlockshadow @sarahthecoatThis! ^^^ I think this post with its additions is totally spot on, making the connection between Sherlock’s walls and his (evolving) approach to romantic entanglement evident. All these scenarios with all their different ‘actors’, all his little mind experiments, are basically Sherlock deliberating with himself what to do about John. And I believe the results from Sherlock’s Mind Theatre experiments this far are (as revealed in TLD and TFP): Hug John, let the grenade explode, go ‘pirate’, tell him you love him, break the (prison) walls, embrace your own feelings and save you both from the emotional pit you’re trapped in. Solve the puzzle and this time, get it right. But there are still obstacles before the case can be solved outside Sherlock’s mind ;).@ebaeschnbliah @221bloodnun @raggedyblue @gosherlockedRe: the elephants in the rooms over the course of the show…and how we end up with TFP. I keep returning to the film Suspiria, because there is a distinct lighting that they replicated in TFP, as well as very obvious elephant statues. But! It also has glass walls as implied or to-be-shattered barriers between freedom and horror. It’s one of three Argento films used in Sherlock. The way we keep coming up to Star Trek, both O and TNG. Those are my shows, but considering the greatest ship on the old series wasn’t the Enterprise…To revisit an image from above though…Who are the neighbors? Oh right, the Sherlock and John mirrors we never see, Mrs. Turner’s married ones. Plus, there is Mycroft, potentially standing in for Mofftiss. Until he sees the connection, they pretend it doesn’t exist.@ebaeschnbliah @221bloodnun @raggedyblue @gosherlocked @sarahthecoat @isitanylittlewonder @possiblyimbiassed -- source link
