commonwealthbabe:“You don’t gotta look if you don’t want to.” Hancock hid his face in embarrassment. Jules had never seen past his neck, and now with his chest exposed, he felt unusually vulnerable. The stab wound in his shoulder was black with crusted blood, undoubtedly adding to his discomfort. “I need to clean this. You’ll lose an arm if an infection spreads.” Jules insisted, her nursing instincts kicking in. Hancock had not felt the care or concern of another person in what felt like centuries. Jules’ worried expression and persistence to tend to him made him feel a warmth in his chest that he had not experienced before. “Ah, it’ll be another scar to add to my collection.” He gestured to the rest of his chest, grinning. He focused on her eyes as she worked on stitching the wound. He couldn’t help but feel taken back by her fingers across his skin, and that she wasn’t repulsed by his scorched appearance. She took great care in each place she rested her hands, making him feel something between comfort and restlessness. “All done.” She chirped, startling the day dreaming ghoul. She stood up to clean her hands with the raggedy dish towel on the coffee table, leaving Hancock still slumped over on the couch. Sensing his lack of energy, she went back over to his side. “Everything okay mister mayor? Or was I too rough on you?” She teased cautiously. “Ah you know me, Sunshine. Tough as nails.” He grinned hesitantly, and continued - “Ive gotta ask though - what is a girl like you doing with a ghoul like me?” The question formed a lump in Jules’ throat. She knew he had not been himself for the last couple of days, the liar. She wrapped her arms around his waist so that he was sitting upright with her. “John…” she breathed, smiling - “After two hundred years, I’ve managed to find the one person that makes me feel like myself - I’m not going to let that kind of thing go. I’ve got scars too, and if you don’t mind mine, then I definitely don’t mind yours.” She kissed his cheek, sending him into a blushing mush of a man. -- source link
