abletoitem:Today marks the 100th anniversary of Red Sunday. On Red Sunday, April 24th 1915, intellectuals and community leaders of the Armenian communities in the Ottoman Empire were deported and executed. An estimated 1.5 million people died in the following years. This genocide is often seen as the first modern genocide by historians and scholars. To this day, Turkey denies the genocide ever happening. Only 24 sovereign nations in the world recognize the massacres as a genocide.[image credit]For more information on the genocide visit: here, here, or here -- source link
