USINE ESCARGOTA second part of a visit to this immense, still active steel industry (see also: Powerplant X) concerns the pump house of the former gas-fired power station that supplied the company with electricity. The pump house was built together with the gas-fired power station in 1899 and was in use until the mid-1970s. It was in fact an essential part of the gas-fired power station, which had to provide the necessary cooling for the gas turbines. The building and its contents, electrically powered ACEC pumps, are now in an advanced state of decomposition and are overgrown by moss and ferns. Although this was not the main purpose of our visit, we did spend some time in this magnificent pump house, where the urbex heart makes a small leap of joy… -- source link
