earthstory:Twister and rainbow over KansasTaken a decade ago by a dedicated storm chaser, those dedicated chroniclers of supercells and tornadoes who provide us with beautiful photos and occasionally lose life or limb in the process. Here the twister is being born out of the surging air currents and eddies surrounding the rising air of the storm cell with a rainbow, formed by the internal reflections of light rays in the drops of water in the air. The streaks in the picture are falling hailstones.LozImage credit: Eric Nguyen via APODhttps://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap141123.htmlwww.mesoscale.ws -- source link
