wufflesvetinari:metatheatre:i took like zero pictures this year and utterly failed to get either a) a full body costume pic or b) a selfie with wufflesvetinari gdi but everyone was so nice but terry farrell!!!!!!!! what a woman!! during her and gates’s q&a panel i asked about, like, sexism on the star trek sets and she was like “honestly, my heart is pounding right now,” because while gates has been fairly open about clashing with producers (since she was essentially fired and then returned to the show), terry hasn’t spoken much publicly about any of the behind the scenes bullshit that comes with being a woman in a hollywood sci-fi franchise. she hinted at some sexual harassment and she talked about her contract struggles with executives who were pushing her around (i’m paraphrasing but she said something like, “i think they thought i was a stupid young girl and if they bullied me enough then i would stay…? and i was like, really, i played dax for six years and you think that i took nothing from that character?!). and how other people (mainly, male cast members) were let out to do other projects while she was given an all or nothing ultimatum for ds9′s last season. gates mentioned, as she has before, that she wanted to direct early in tng and was repeatedly refused despite being one of the only ones with extensive directing experience - i think terry didn’t know this, because she was scandalized on gates’s behalf. when we actually got to meet terry she pulled me over for a picture and could tell that i was being shy and ridiculous - “you’re not nervous, are you?” “UM a little,” i admitted, and that’s when she grabbed me and hugged me and i had NO IDEA until i dumped my camera that there was a picture of this and that i had made that…face omfg what a DOOFUS i am?!?!robert patrick is charming. he asked me why my nose was “fucked up” omg?? and he practically made me swear that i would watch scorpion and said that it’s better than x-files, which i don’t think i believe, but i feel like i owe it to robert patrick to say: scorpion, monday nights at 9 people.more context + kirakelsey!!!! -- source link
