During an Open Doors’ recent interaction with victims of rape and sexual abuse in Central African Republic, we showed these women that accounts from the Bible confirm our Lord does not look at them the way the community often looks at them.We also helped them understand the symptoms of their trauma, the phases of recovery, and guided them into spiritual disciplines such as Bible study, prayer, fellowship, and discipleship to help the recovery process.After a little care - which seemed inadequate at the time - the women tore up pictures depicting them as downcast and broken victims. The next day we arrived to hear them joyfully singing praises to God. When asked about it, they said that the realized they were not alone and that they no longer felt isolated. In sharing their stories and pouring out their hearts to God, they felt great relief. -- source link
