The real reason why I wear my wig for jobs… A lot of clients won’t book me if I don’t have the wig. My natural hair isn’t trendy enough and looks too kinky and nappy. And I’m not only speaking about the white clients but I’m speaking of the clients of color as well. Let me tell you story. I once had a job that would pay me 6k for a hair campaign. I’ve literally face timed this person who was a person of color asking too see my natural hair and I show them. They say they look forward to work with me. A week later they say they don’t think I’m good enough for the part because of my hair and just drop me for the job. This is not the only time that this has happened to me. I’ve had a job where a creative director tells everyone not to tell the client that my hair is a wig because they probably won’t rebook me. I’m mad because my hair really is beautiful it is a crown it is fabulous it is bouncy and it is me and I have to cover it every single job just because its not trendy enough. I’m laughing angrily now because wow wowowowowowowow you guys truly don’t accept us but you say that you do. If the hairstylist doesn’t know how to do our hair then they aren’t really a hair stylist. I want my hair to be trendy for the right reasons I want my hair to be looked as beautiful instead of “slave hair”. Give my hair some fucking respect. @nereyda_bird -- source link
