fightingforanimals:Okay I’m posting this because I have included a lot of links and photos and I want to snub this myth out once and for all. There’s really no difference ethically because killing healthy animals can never be considered ethical. More humane? Hardly. Taking the welfarist approach of ‘humane meat/eggs/dairy’, which is what you do if you promote free-range, does nothing to help the animals, and only further hurts them because you are advocating that there is a way we can hurt and kill them that is considered ‘acceptable’.This is a free-range hen farm. Most farms look this way because it is more efficient and more profitable to house as many ‘units’ as possible (unit being the name given to each animal). Free-range doesn’t mean frollicking in fields in the sun - it means ‘limited access to outdoors’. This can be as simple as leaving a door open… in a barn with 60,000 chickens, the vast majority will never even reach the door never mind see sunlight until they are boarded onto the slaughter truck. All of these photos are from certified free-range farms. I post these in the hopes you will research into these industries rather than choosing to believe the lies fed to you.And this is the UK’s leading company, ‘Happy Eggs’. This is not an exception. In fact, this farm is RSPCA-Approved and is ‘one of the best’. how is this any better just because there are no ‘cages’?look, more free range turkeys for christmas. oh and look at the free range cows who are malnourished and literally posed in front of a meadow photo so that you keep believing that they live in the sunshine all the time…. again, UK.You can’t have been following me for long if you think I promote ‘vegan pets’, or deny that not everyone can be vegan, because on the contrary I say otherwise. Believing the free-range myth does nothing but hurt animals. If someone has to eat animal products then the best they can do is buy locally and outdoor-raised animals but even then, they still suffer with debeaking, dehorning, castration, and other procedures, often without pain relief. Male chicks are still thrown in mincing machines or gassed to death for being useless, and male and infertile calves are still raised for veal in this country, because these are dubbed ‘standard practices’, which are legal and viewed as ‘acceptable practice’.Most people *can* go vegan though, so clutching at straws by saying ‘what about pets!’ or ‘what about people who need it!’ is a ridiculous excuse to not go vegan if you’re perfectly able to. Speaking on behalf of people who can’t go vegan and not letting them use their own voice is also a poor excuse… so that neighbour can’t go vegan because of a certain reason, what’s stopping you?I suggest you actually read my blog before jumping to conclusions, especially when your points are easily debunked. I do not post this to cause offense, I’m simply tired of people not bothering to read anything I post and then spouting nonsense about things that would easily be proven if you just took the time to look at the resources and information I post. -- source link
