We find interesting things tucked inside some of our books. These Joan of Arc and Rouen, France postcards were within the pages of the book, Le Secret de Jeanne d'Arc: Pucelle d'Orléans by Jean Jacoby. On the book’s first page, our benefactor, James Smith Noel, wrote that he bought the book in 1944 while living at Twenty Grand, a U.S. Army camp in the region of Normandy, France. He found it in a book store near the location where Joan of Arc was burned, which was Rouen’s market square. So, these postcards are probably from the 1940s. These postcards are located in our ephemera cabinet and found using the call number of the book where they were found. They were in:Jean Jacoby’s Le Secret de Jeanne d'Arc: Pucelle d'Orléans. Mercure de France, 1932. Call Number: DC103 .J33 1932Catalog Record for book: https://bit.ly/2sS4zSo -- source link
