The ONE Character Trait That Led Me to Success I’m 15 years old and I’m taking part in high school competition, there are 11 competitors, we gathered to compete in our English language skills. I remember there was one kid who thought she had no chances whatsoever and she was talking to me pointing at some girl who looked super duper cool and confident and telling that girl was the smartest and the best one. I shrugged my shoulders and said, - overconfidence is a way to failure. If you ask me now I have no idea where I took that phrase from, but it sounded pretty cool to me so I said it. I just couldn’t admit someone was the smartest before the competition actually began. I knew I worked hard before. I wasn’t sure I was the smartest one, I just knew my will was strong. And I won. I’m 18 years old and I’m in the university. My group mates have quite high level of English and I’m making an effort to keep up with them, as I come from a small town and back then there weren’t too many resources. There were only 2 things available for me back then: my will to study and 2 good English teachers, that’s what I got. 5 years later I graduated from my university with honours. 2017, so far the worst year of my life. I was literally surviving, I got fired on Christmas Eve without any notice. I didn’t have savings. I didn’t have job. My toxic relationship ended. I was all alone. I kinda hate and love this year at the same time, it nearly crushed me over and killed me and at the same time made me so much stronger. The only thing which kept me alive was my will. Everyone told me to stop daydreaming and get just whatever job to survive. I was surviving, but I couldn’t settle for less. I wanted certain quality of life and I was aiming for it. And here am I.Willpower is a huge resource which helped me so many times in my life. I’m grateful that now I can use my willpower to help other people to take the quality of their lives to the next level. There’s one thing no one can take away from you - your willpower.
