Nyungwea anguinellaLook, I can’t tell you exactly why every picture of N. anguinella looks, uh, completely different. From the descriptions I found online, it can be identified by its short, lirelliform ascomata (elongated fruiting bodies, line-like or oblong, with a slit like opening) with a pale pink to red to brown disk, surrounded by a raised ridge of thallus material. And like, not all the pictured lichens look like that? But I am going to assume that this lichen is just really variable in form and that everyone did there best with IDing. She’s gorgeous, no matter what she looks like. N. anguinella grows in tropical locations in North and South America, colonizing the bark of tress and shrubs, and crevices in igneous rock. images: source | sourceinfo: source -- source link
