15 february 2021bipoc female authors have shaped me into the women i am today.their books were the hands, their words were the tools and my mind was the material: a hunk of polymer clay waiting to be worked into a masterpiece. each passage carved out a little here, while each character etched out a little there. their ability to lend language to a young, black women navigating a world that worked to silence her voice, provided me with tremendous courage to take up space. to exceed far beyond what was ever expected.maya. alice. clarissa. toni and pictured, nayyirah (just to name a few.)it’s our annual black history year and i’ve included these amazing women (and some men) over on a special list on my bookshop. check it out and let me know of any other recommendations you all have. i’m an open book (pun intended.) -- source link
