the-real-seebs:redgoldsparks:The Nib ( @thenib ) is doing a whole month of queer comics and I was honored to contribute this one! You can read all of the other comics I’ve done for them here, and here is my comic from last year’s Pride Month. You can find more of my comics, including my Genderqueer series, on instagram and you can support me on patreon or on ko-fi if you’d like to help me keep making this work :) I think people may underestimate how completely normal responses like this are. The overwhelming majority of people out there will not want to be assholes about a thing they don’t understand. Especially if you have any kind of tie to them, however tenuous. Not that many people are into folk dancing. Therefore being into folk dancing is a tie to people. Therefore, if they have to choose between “alienating a person who is into folk dancing, and thus part of my community” or “getting used to an unfamiliar thing about how people can exist”, they’re gonna be quite likely to prefer the latter.I’m not saying it’s reliably safe, or anything, but: In most of the parts of the world where people generally have Internet, and there’s any kind of existing cultural diversity at all, people tend to be relatively cool. -- source link
