Instead PacSec put us through a decontamination cycle in one of their medicine tents and I left with my skin feeling cold and slightly sticky as I pulled my equally cold and equally disinfected clothes back on. The American had vanished into the evening crowds and I could hear people arguing with PacSec about salvaging food from EnTrigue. I couldn’t see Joo-won and I wondered if he’d finally decided to sleep.The lifts were working. I went up to the top floor.Lalita’s foyer was even more cluttered than it had been and I had to traverse a narrow path from the lift to her door bracketed by precarious stacks of supplies. For the first time I was obliged to knock and wait while she unlocked it and when she saw my face she took my hand and guided me in.
