winneganfake: abyssalcorvid: lankira: winneganfake:winneganfake: Took the time to get some malas strung today, (available at http://tormentedartifacts.com/muninnmala.html ) and I swear- every time, I have to remind myself. These are real lava rock. No matter what the intrusive thought says, do NOT try to bite into it like the freshest darkest berries ever grown. YOU WILL BREAK A TOOTH. https://www.instagram.com/p/CWHHbkhvUYg/?utm_medium=tumblr DO NOT BITE. Not even a little. This reminds me of that time @netherworldpost received info explaining that lava would have the approximate texture of tapioca or rice pudding. Which prompted me to explain to my SO that I, too wish to discover the texture of eating lava without dying.Lava is the forbidden food, in liquid or solid form. When I first saw the malas, I wanted one so much, but couldn’t afford one. But I could afford, if I was careful, the supplies I didn’t already have. So I made my own. And it was immediately different, because I originally ordered the wrong beads, and then when I ordered the right ones, I didn’t order enough, and I decided I wanted to add a pentacle to the raven skull, but it was mine, the differences serving to make it more so. And then it broke, and I had to remake it. And again, and again. And every time I remade it, it was a little different. Eventually, I was restringing the bracelet after I’d started watching The Mandalorian, and the occasional remaking began to take on a new meaning…And, as I remade my bracelet, it changed a little bit more and I learned a little bit more about making jewelry, and the last time I had to restring it, I took it down to the base beads, ordered more (necessary, because every time it breaks, I lose some beads and no longer had enough), and since I had to order more beads anyway, I decided to make this bracelet truly mine, and more specifically representative of my own practice. And now, I wear this bracelet daily, only taking it off to shower or do dishes (because some of the beads are wood, and even without them, I’m not sure I want to soak the string). The black beads are horn, and with the red wood beads, they represent the fence around Baba Yaga’s hut. The black lava rock beads represent, for me, Hell and Satan. Originally, there were 12 smaller red lava rock beads flanking the pendant, and they represented the 12 presidents of Hell in the Ars Goetia, but being so small, they are fragile, and so keep breaking off, and, honestly, I’m not too worried about it. Eventually, I will need to remake my bracelet again, and I can replace them. So, well, first, sorry, I guess, @winneganfake, for… kind of pirating a bracelet that I couldn’t afford. But also, thank you for inspiring the bracelet I wear daily, and that is my craft armor. No.Stop. Awesomeness DOES NOT apologize for being awesome, and that is precisely what you are doing here. You not only understood the assignment of a mala, of meditation, you turned rebuilding and remaking it into an act of meditation on it’s own and made a design that is wholly personal and yours as part of the process. I’m honored to have helped inspire it to an extent. But more importantly, GO YOU. THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME AND I’M SO GLAD YOU LET US SEE THIS. -- source link
