The Central African Republic (CAR) has jumped 14 places on Open Doors’ World Watch List of countries with the worst persecution of Christians.Even though most of the population (73%) in CAR is Christian, fear and violence are a daily reality for believers, especially amid the ongoing civil war, which makes them even more vulnerable to violence. Extremist groups and corruption add to the pressure Christians face.Churches are often attacked, ransacked, and even burned to the ground. Christian leaders are threatened, and believers have had their homes attacked. Christians have been widowed or orphaned and thousands have been left homeless due to these attacks.Large groups of Christians have been forced to find shelter at Internally Displace People’s camps where they live in extremely poor conditions. The conflict has cost many their livelihood, making it difficult for them to support their families.Open Doors supports the Church in the Central African Republic by providing discipleship training, economic empowerment and emergency relief to those affected by violence as well as preparing them for persecution. Please stand in prayer for Christians in CAR. -- source link
