My father is dying!” One of the baristas was able to help her get a video chat working in time for her to say goodbye to her father while she could see his face, and he could see hers. This technology, that people are constantly shitting on, that people keep saying is disconnecting us, made that possible. I don’t know who she was, but I felt connected to her then. I think we all did, everyone who was there. I’m sad for her loss, and I’m also glad that the technology exists that let her see her dad one more time, even though she couldn’t physically go to him.So if people could stop complaining about communication technology, which actually, surprise, facilitates communication, that would be great. -- source link
