HAPPY HALLOWEEN GUYS!!! hope i’m not too late “:> unfortunately, i don’t celebrate halloween, but i decided to draw something special this year. maybe it’s not too halloween-y, but i still tried x)these cats are bakeneko and maneki-neko and they are from japanese mythology. (also there are some koi on the background)bakeneko is a type of japanese yokai, kind of like a kitsune. to become a bakeneko, a cat has to reach a certain age, size or have a really long tai. if it does have a long tail, the tail splits in two and the cat becomes a nekomata ("double cat”).you might know the second one pretty well. the maneki-neko (literally “beckoning cat”) is a japanese talisman which is believed to bring good luck to the owner. maneki-neko can be found with either the right or left paw raised (and sometimes both). a statue with the left paw raised is to get more customers, while the right paw raised is to get more money.you should read more about those, it’s really interesting! for me anyway. i study japanese at school and i like the culture a lot. i hope you enjoy and have a great day!! -- source link
