Lake is too distraught to remember about the harpoon pack, so Alan Dracula demonstrates “up” as an escape route and waits for them to catch up. This is one of the only times Alan Dracula vocalizes in the entire season and I’m convinced it was to try to snap Lake out of their panic and make sure they knew he wanted them to follow and wasn’t leaving them Alan Dracula is such a good, sweet deer in The Wasteland. Sticking with Lake in that miserable landscape, carrying Mace and letting Lake ride him away from the ghoms even though he hates people on his back, trying to protect them from ghoms and not dipping out until he’s hurt… I love him, I love AD so much. I feel really silly sometimes analyzing this doofy inexpressive deer but he really does show a bunch of times that he has his own thoughts and opinions and cares so much about Lake and Jesse.
