So yeah we finally went to see Venom: Let There Be Carnage(aka Venom 2) this past Tuesday. I was really excitedfor this one being I am a Venom fan for as long asthe character existed. I also was very curious andinterested in seeing how they handle a characterlike Cletus Kasady/Carnage.When we went, I was hoping for some in theatermerch but sadly there wasn’t any. I wouldhave gotten some Venom/Carnage stuff if theyhad any the movie merch they had was plushiesof the characters of Hotel Transylvania 4which I didn’t wantanyway, as for the movie I loved it!!I thought it was awesome! there is not alot of explanationI do feel the movie actuallymoves along rather quickly being itwants to get to all the funsmashing and crashing lolbut I do feel that it is verycharacter driven much like theprevious one. Some time haspassed since the first as Eddie Brockis still struggling with livingwith Venom and how his life is notgoing the way he wants it to.I felt the movie was great withplenty of good action and thevisuals in my opinion were reallygood in bringing these charactersto life as well as the movie has thiskind of dry humor that does pullsome laughs and giggles out of youas well as many really nice charactermoments.I’m still enjoying Tom Hardy asthe character of Eddie Brock heis totally killing it with thischaracter and his interactionwith Venom at times is reallyfunny and he just works greaton screen and has greatchemistry withMichelle Williams’ Anneas well as Reid Scott’s Dr. Danand pretty much everyone elseWith the story and specificallyCletus Kasady/Carnage theydid change his origin a bit tofit into this movie universewhich was alright but theydid try to keep it as closeas possible due to the factthat Cletus Kasady’s backstoryis like identical to that ofthe comics they just changedhow he becomes Carnage slightlybut you can tell they tookalot of influence from stufflike Maximum Carnage whichis excellentNow I have to say I did likeNaomie Harris as Shriek shedid a really good job of handlingthat character I felt sheportrayed Shriek’s insanity perfectlyand they even included bits of herorigin like the being shot in theface by the police but they alsochanged somethings to have herfit in this story. Now as for the big oneWoody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady/CarnageI was a bit concerned about this castingbeing I didn’t think he was right forthis role. Now after seeing the movieI will honestly say he does do a goodjob as Cletus Kasady so I was happywith that but at the same time Iprobably would have still cast someoneelse in that role. I would look forsomeone who I thought matched himmore physically not just his wild crazinessbut like I said he still did a great jobas for Carnage as a creature I thoughtthey did an amazing job!! I lovedhim when he was on screenthey had him tentaclely like in thecomics which was great he seemedto have like 4 main one come out ofhis back (similar to what Spider-Manhas on his Iron Spider suit)but there were all kinds of lilones coming off him at variousmoments which was cool. One complaint I do have is Ifelt his red was a lil too darkand should have been morebrighterAlso I always felt that theCarnage symbiote was moreliquidly and fluid then Venomis as in Venom is a static andsolid black were I alwaysfelt that theRed and Black of Carnage wasalways shifting and movingand the pattern was alwayschanging as it churned andswirled on top of his skinbut from I remember theydidn’t incorporatethat into this versionof the character and thisis just how I always seen himIn the end the movie isfast, fun and crazywith lots of good actionalso don’t leave tooquick there is a prettymind-blowing creditsscene that you just haveto stick around and see! -- source link
