thankskenpenders:In this backup Finitevus recaps some of the echidna lore for new readers (again, remember, most of this stuff was a decade old at this point) and explains how that ties in to his plansThere are two things to note in the panels above. One: Tracy redrew this legendary panel with all the Knuckleses. And two: the retcon/error/whatever from the original Knuckles miniseries where Dimitri was depicted as turning into Enerjak immediately after powering up is undone. This goes back to the original depiction where he was just green. This preserves the plot hole of Archimedes knowing the name Enerjak when Dimitri wasn’t supposed to have used that alias before, allowing Ian to reinterpret Enerjak as a recurring entityFini goes on to explain that he’s sick of the endless stalemate between the Brotherhood and the Dark Legion, so he’s become a third party in the fight. His plan? To kill everybody! He thinks the world is beyond saving and just wants to wipe the board clean. “All will be cleansed in a wave of emerald fire,” the guys says. So yeah. Kind of a nutjob. (I do love seeing him talk shit on Ken’s big echidna conflict, though, with lines like “The squabbling has crossed time and space, growing more convoluted with each generation.”)We learn more about some stuff Fini has been up to behind the scenes, though:So yes, Finitevus almost turned Remington (and Lien-Da) into the new Enerjak. This alludes to Ian’s original plan to make Remington Enerjak, which I’m very glad isn’t what he went with. It also further explains Remington and Lien-Da being jealous of Knuckles a couple issues back–they both thought they were up for the promotionWe also finally learn what happened to the lost Guardians, who we haven’t seen since before the post-#125 timeskip. The answer? Finitevus experimented on them and then dumped them in the alternate dimension where the Dark Legion was formerly trapped (which, yes, is literally called the Twilight Zone). This is ESPECIALLY devilish of him considering Finitevus literally sent Locke out to find the missing members of the Brotherhood so that he could have the Master Emerald all to himself. What a creep! He rulesAnyway, farewell, Knuckles’ interchangeable racist grandpas! If I’m not mistaken, we’re never going to see them again. This is the fate they deserve. To be unceremoniously dumped into an alternate dimension in a flashback in a backup story. They will not be missed -- source link
