stophatingyourbody:Sometimes it’s hard. Sometimes it’s hard to look at yourself, completely naked, and be okay with it. You find yourself criticizing and magnifying every “flaw”, and you can’t seem to find anything beautiful about that imperfect human that stands before you in the mirror.I know. I understand. I’ve had plenty of those days. I’ve been there. Hell, there are some days when I am still there. The stubborn blemishes and marks on my back that have yet to fade can drive me to tears. The dimples on the back of my thighs make me tug at my shorts, and the dark hair on my arms can make me feel timid and unfeminine. But, just because I have things about myself that are considered “wrong” by others does not make me ugly.I am not ugly.I adore my neck and my collarbones. I have fabulous hair and eyelashes. My smile is bright and authentic. My legs carry me through the 800 meters I run during track season. My arms wrap themselves around those I love and remind them how much they mean to me. I think all of those things are beautiful. But, physical traits are obviously not the only kind of beauty. We are all wonderfully unique beings. All of us have a brand of humor and intelligence that is our own. We all have the capacity to be generous, kind human beings. We are all capable of love. How amazing is that? The next time you find yourself in front of the mirror having one of those days, stop for a moment, step away from the mirror, and think about 3 things you love about yourself. Write them on your mirror with a dry erase marker. Soon enough, you will find your mirror filled with incredible, positive messages that will literally and emotionally block the negative thoughts you have when you look in the mirror. My name is Devon, I’m 15, and my mirror reminds me that I am beautiful just the way I am.
