smartassjen:smartassjen:smartassjen:smartassjen:smartassjen:7 days left to donate to Her Story, a web series by and about trans & queer women.Watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB9MQ7irjqw Donate here (lots of great perks still available): https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/her-story–2Thanks!Six days left to help us bring Angelica Ross & Christian Ochoa to a screen near you: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/her-story–2 Five days left to help us fund post-production!https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/her-story–2 The small, but fun, role of Kat was written for queer Pakistani performance artist Fawzia Mirza (right) after I watched her one woman show “Me, My Mom & Sharmila” in Chicago. She is one of the most talented people I’ve ever met and we hope to write more material for her if Her Story gets picked up.This scene was one of the hardest to write, and I couldn’t listen in during filming. Allie (Laura Zak) tells her friend that she’s met a trans woman and they kind of make fun of her, and trans women. We wanted it to be casual, to show the ignorance and cruelty that can be found even among otherwise progressive queer women. I basically wrote out my fears. Happily, these actresses are much coolers than their characters and we had lots of amazing conversations on set about the absence of trans women in queer & feminist circles.Anyways, four days left to contribute and claim a fun perk!https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/her-story–2 The look of Her Story can be credited to our amazing Director of Photography Bérénice Eveno (left). Bear was our first choice, but we didn’t think we could get her since she’s very in demand (she was the apprentice to the legendary Wally Pfister on entirely of The Dark Knight), but she fell in love with the script, and immediately began developing an intentionally feminine visual style for the shoot. I used to joke on set that if the actors walked around making fart sounds the whole time, it’d still be watchable because it looks so sumptuous. Almost as unusual as having trans actors in lead trans roles is having a female Director of Photography. Film crews are traditionally dominated by men, but even more so in the technical area. The DP oversees lighting, electric, etc. Bear was the boss on set. She’s also French an her accent would grow thicker deeper into the day. And as you know, there’s nothing greater than hearing a French person curse. On the right is Kate Fisher, our EP. I’m afraid if I start talking about Kate, I won’t stop. She, more than any other single person, is responsible for the quality of Her Story production. She brought the team together, got us the money, and insisted that if we were going to do that, we were going to do it right. She’s believed in the script, and Laura & I, from the beginning. She is everything.Anyways, I missed yesterday, so it’s actually 2 DAYS left in our crowdfunding campaign! We only have 15% left of our $35,000 goal. -- source link
