This scene makes me want to rage. Ran had figured out that she had seen both Masumi  and Mary. The important part is that she felt like she had seen Mary before. Mary, who was an adult, when she met her the first time. According to Masumi, her family consist of, her deceased father, her mother who lives over seas in America, and her two older brothers. The resemblance between Mary and Masumi is undeniable, so the existence of this middle school aged girl comes into question. She’s already noticed how similar Conan and Shinichi are and she had fledged out a theory about him turning small due to a drug. But now, there’s another person who looks eerily similar to the older version of their self. Ran has more evidence to add into the collection of adults turning into kids theory but unfortunately we got the Akai family flashback in Shinichi’s point of view and the confirmation that middle aged girl, the ‘sister from another territory’  and Mary are the same person. She starts to question Masumi again when she sees the swimsuit but is interrupted. And with the recent suspicion arc, which was dropped with that suspicious smile that was similar to the one which proceeded DR, it might be that Ran knows Conan is Shinichi but is keeping it a secret as she did pre-Desperate Revival.Now, Gosho has said that he won’t let Ran know the truth until the end, but I think it’s unfair to Ran’s characterization. She can have a great character development if her suspicion arc is given a proper chance. Now, with her maybe remembering Mary, there is a possibility that this time she could give her adults turning into kids theory a little more thought. -- source link
