Today for #28daysofblackcosplay lets do a #cosplaysidebyside with the inspiration for my #dazzler cosplay! Last year one of the things I got more into was the history of disco and the ways this underground black and gay music scene got commodified and villanized (check out the @yourewrongaboutpod disco demolition episode for a good start on this) and I also fell down the rabbit hole of the dazzler disco movie that almost got made, and the idea of doing a more authentically black disco take on dazzler was just too appealing. I modeled the wig after #Donnasummer, and the tweaks I made on the jumpsuit are actually inspired by a picture of my mother in the funk band she was a singer for in the late 70s!
