sixwheelriker:deirdre-evelyn:laurakbuzz:kellanium:catnippackets:happy stimmingThis is one of my favorite comics of all time.Autistic stimming needs this, more representation of stimming a positive, pure, happy thing.and adhd as well! but yes, stimming needs to be understood as a positive helpful thing because it’s amazingI saw this comic forever ago and couldn’t understand it. About 4 years ago an occupational therapist explained that a lot of my compulsive (and painful) habits were the result of needing to stim but not knowing it or knowing how. He essentially taught me ways to safely stim and a lot of things got better, but stuff like textured objects didn’t give me this joy feeling so I didnt quite get it.Then one day when I was overstimulated after a doctor’s appointment I tried out full-on hand and arm flapping in the car afterwards and it was like WOAH, I couldnt help but smile then start laughing and it was like someone had filles my brain with happy bubbles. I don’t know how else to describe it. And I recalled this comic and thought YES I GET IT NOW -- source link
