#MuhlaysiaBooker’s story is truly heartbreaking. Her vicious beating in April was caught on video. She recovered only to be found shot to death a month later. • (Sorry not sorry I’m being a bummer this shit is important) •I’m sad to only get to know these bright, beautiful women through their tragedy. Their bravery inspires me but also makes me feel ashamed at what I take for granted. I can only imagine how hard it is to wake up every day in a body that feels foreign. The *work* these women put in to exist a little more comfortably in the world is incredible & I can’t be bothered to brush my fucking hair most days. •Violence against trans & gay people is on the rise. I never thought I’d be living in that world. It’s so righteously fucked up & I feel helpless. Especially when oppression is flooding in on all sides. •The first step is awareness. If ONE of you looks up her story because of this post- I’m happy. I can be angry about abortion bans & exploitation of immigrants & destruction of the environment, too. I’m fucking furious about all of it. This is what I can do today.•#sayhername#restinpower#transgirl #transvisibility #stopkillingtrans #stopkillingtranswoc #protectoursisters #translivesmatter#protecttranslives#stopkillingtranswomen#stopkillingtranspeople #lgbtqiapride #stonewall50 #inmysketchbook#sketchportrait#portraitsketch#feministartactivism — view on Instagram http://bit.ly/2Z5y7tg -- source link
