butchflirt: Some more of the important noble families in Srintalo.- Stunor: The Stunors took the throne of Srintalo by force through a rebellion led by Olaf Stunor, who crowned himself King Olaf VI, and eventually came to be known as “the Damned” because of his cruelty. Olaf was eventually assassinated, but the Stunor dynasty continued until Queen Mary the Good died without issue, leading her nephew Charles Svena to take the throne. The modern Stunors, officially a cadet branch of the family which sat the Maroon Throne, makes its seat in the castle of Underfoot, built into the side of a mountain in the north of Srintalo.- Pontius: The House of Pontius maintains a keep just north of capital of Inna. They are an important knightly family sworn to the crown, and played a major role in crushing the rebellion against George III. They are famed as skilled archers, and the current Yeoman of Crossbow Hall, Declan Pontius, commands a group of snipers in the Basil province, fighting against the Prosperon rebellion.- Mirkos: The House of Mirkos began as a cadet branch of the House of Aurius, and maintains a small keep in the southern district of the capital of Inna. This proximity to the Palace of the Sun has meant that the Mirkoses have found great influence as stewards, advisors, and treasurers to the various kings of Srintalo, and have married into the royal families more times than the size of their holdings would suggest. Politically-savvy, the Mirkoses are well-positioned to someday produce an heir that, at the right time and under the right circumstances, could rise to the throne of Srintalo itself.- Quspatricius: The House of Quspatricius has an unsavory reputation as full of power-hungry opportunists. The Quspatriciuses have led no fewer than five rebellions against the Srintalon crown, and managed to retain their lands and titles each time through complicated political maneuvering. Gloatingly, they reflect this in their sigil with the five boars.- Rex: The Rexes are an ancient Srintalon house, and ruled as petty kings in the days before Joseph Wellobo united Srintalo, ruling much of the western coast. The Rexes style themselves “First Kings of Srintalo,” and have occasionally maintained claims to rulership of the country. The rebellion against King George III was fronted by a Rex claimant, though not of the main branch, which backed the crown. The Rexes are considered fickle bannermen to the crown, loyal only insofar as the crown is strong. - Albus: A noble family from the northern mountains, the Albuses have long styled themselves “Lords of the North Winds,” as well as “Wardens of the North Way.” They control the only pass through the northern mountains into the rest of Srintalo, giving themselves a level of power and influence outsized to their viscountly title. - Tylia: The “wolves of the west,” the Tylias are one of the few loyalist Prosperon houses, making their seat in the agriculture-rich Basil province. Intensely loyal to the crown, seven Tylias have served as head of the Srintalon Royal Guard. The most recent of these was Matthias Tylia, heir to Duke Marmaduke Tylia. Matthias died in the Battle of the Mill defending King George III during the rebellion. After Duke Marmaduke died, he was therefore succeeded by Matthias’ then-seven-year-old son Gregory, significantly weakening the house when war came again. The Tylias make their seat in Basil Castle, atop a tall hill surrounded by farmland, much of which has been burned in Prosperon sorties.- Hugo: A knightly house, the Hugos have the honor of hosting the great Temple of Tal within their lands. Hugos are therefore commonly known as pious knights, with many joining religious military orders. However, while they are fiercely loyal to the faith, their fidelity to the crown, and to each other, is much more spotty. Hugos fought on both sides of the rebellion against King George III, and several have volunteered their services to the Prosperon rebellion as well. Yeoman Quintus Hugo, the head of the house, has disregarded royal commands to raise his banners, adopting a policy of neutrality.- Waspria: The Wasprias control the entirety of Srintalon territory which lies within the Great Desert. Half of this territory is in Prospero, and so the Wasprias have remained neutral in the war, claiming that their attention is needed to prevent raids from Dessenian bandits. However, Waspria men have been spotted in armies on both sides, and Waspria stewards have been caught selling weapons and supplies to both sides as well. Duchess Lilibet Waspria has come under increasing pressure to formally declare for one side or the other, all while the red desert sands encroach further into the halls of Redstone Castle, her seat: war is coming for Dessen as well as Srintalo, and the Waspiras may end up caught between them. -- source link
