Depression and mental illness is such a taboo topic in the black community. So many shun the idea of therapy and think you can just “pray it away”. I’m a strong believer in Christ but I also know you have to meet him half way and utilize your resources. Self care goes beyond the physical but the mental as well. And yes, depression is an illness that must be treated just like any other illness. If you’re a friend of someone and notice signs of depression don’t hesitate to be their confidant and suggest therapy; even suggest going with them. Lucky for me, my mother is a therapist and since I was a child, therapy has been a constant tool when faced with adversity; it helps. Thanks Kid Cudi for your bravery and bringing this issue to light. I know you’re probably used to doing things to appease other ppl, but make sure you do something for you today. -- source link
