bill0014:ladygrayluvs:bill0014:geenee27:bill0014:Clearly I need some guidance. Anyone know a knowledgeable gardener?@bill0014 : Oh Nathan, want to come over and look at my *tomatoes* ?Nathan : Restraining Order !@geenee27 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! are these really your tomatoes @bill0014 Yes @ladygrayluvs! They grew but none of them turned red. Despite my claim of being “passionate about gardening” I’m actually really bad with plants of any kind. This happened to a lot of us this year, it was too hot and too dry, and tomato varietals these days are a streamlined breed. they need lots of leaf surface to ripen in the kind of season we had, and most just dont, in future if you see this happening again, take some of the unripened tomatoes off . So the plant can balance its needs and the ripening of the fruit. It will always try to “stay alive” before it will give resources to ripening. If you leave these in a cool sunny window they may ripen a bit more for you, but I would fry them up now, who could resist…. -- source link
