taahirahlove:micdotcom:kaldicuct:spicehamster:the-movemnt:Watch: The last type of mis-pronouncer is the worst, most insulting of allMy birth name is Haille, and it’s pronounced “Hay-lee” but people keep pronouncing it like “Hallie”. some even fucking write it “Hallie” like no, I didn’t misspell my name. One of my coworkers says shit like “Kaylee” “callie” and constantly forgets my actual fucking name. It pisses me off so fucking much. There’s a girl in some of my classes named Latha and one of our professors has been corrected like a million times and still says it like “Lay-tha” when it’s pronounced “Leth-a”Has it really come to this? “If you don’t say my name right you are oppressing me.”? Fucking really? I’ve got a name, It’s from Assassin’s Creed 3. Connor’s real name. I’m using this name to make it easy for people to look it up. Guess what. There are many ways of pronouncing it. OMG THE HUMANITY!Ratonhnhaké:ton motherfuckers.Remember, if you cant say a name right even if it’s not a common name. That means you hate the person who you didn’t say their name right. There is no such thing as human error. Everyone can pronounce everything perfectly 100% of the time.People with this mentality need to shut the fuck up.Of course, there is human error, but if you make no effort to say a person’s name correctly you are dehumanizing them, disrespecting them and generally being an asshole. It’s very easy to respect people who are different from you. Maybe you missed this part?My name is Taahirah and people always wanna call me T. NoMy name is Taahira (different spelling) too! But yeah, people always wanna call me something else. Only people allowed to call me Tee are my close friends and family (and only because they can actually properly pronounce my name). I’ve had Tiara, Tashirah, Tyshira, Shakira, Taco, Tanira, Tanesha, Teehara, Tee-Tee, Taco…none of which are my name. what pisses me off most I think is when people throw in letters that aren’t even there. Tyshira? There isn’t even a y OR an S in my name. -- source link
