rivjudephoenix:Happy Mother’s Day to River’s grandmother, Margaret “Margie” Dunetz who passed away on October 21, 1998 She and her husband Meyer, River’s grandfather, took the Phoenix’s into their home in Florida when they returned to the US, having escaped from The Children of God. They hadn’t seen River since he was a baby and were shocked that at eight years old he had received no formal education, insisting that he be put in school immediately, which he was for a brief period. Two days after River’s death, she was unable to refer to him in the past tense, “I can’t describe what a wonderful kid he is. I can’t understand why – how – it could happen. He’s natural. He watches his weight. He watches what he eats. He doesn’t eat meat. He’s gentle. It’s a mystery”“She was such an amazingly unique woman; always accentuating the positive even through many of life’s struggles being the daughter of very poor immigrants arriving from Hungary. Deeply affectionate, very funny, wise, quick witted and a great entertainer, her three daughters loved her so much! The day before she passed away at 82, she had traveled from West Palm Beach to celebrate Jeffrey’s 34th and Rio’s 2nd birthdays. She entertained us all by singing “La vie en rose” and no one would have ever imagined it was her Swan Song having a stroke upon returning home the next day. Her greatest joy (along with poker, mahjong and bingo) was her daughters and most of all, watching her grandchildren grow into beautiful and successful human beings” — Heart Phoenix -- source link
