A few of my favorite drag looks and experiences from 2016, showing my evolution throughout the year-1. First look of the year, bedroom photoshoot, January 31st2. Bedroom photoshoot, February 15th3. Look Queen (attending as audience member), March 28th4. On Top season premiere, May 17th5. NYC Drag March, June 24th6. First look for Miss Bio-Werrrk, July 167. Ego, first live performance, September 3rd8. Look Queen (attending as performer), October 2nd 9. Final look of the year, Metropolitan, December 26thAs I look back on the past year of my drag, I think more than anything this was the year I came into my own as a queen. I started off the year doing drag in my bedroom as purely a look-based medium, and was content with this. I never would have predicted that I’d be ending the year as someone who placed in a drag pageant and has performed in several different cities, with my last time in drag for the year being to perform at the first drag bar I went to see a show at when I first moved to Brooklyn in March! My hesitation to really push myself to be part of the community came from a combination of feeling like I wasn’t good enough to be a performing drag queen, and feeling like I wouldn’t be accepted as a drag queen at all because I don’t fit most people’s definition of what a drag queen is. I am SO grateful to everyone who has welcomed me with open arms and shown me love and support over the past year, proving and helping me prove to myself that those hesitations are unfounded. I started out the year living in the suburbs where the trains to and from the city stopped running too early for me to really go out, and I’m ending the year living in NYC with one of the best drag scenes in the world at my fingertips, and so, I’d like to officially state that my drag new year’s resolution for 2017 is to go out more and to really start making a name for myself! Wishing everyone a happy 2017, onward and upward! ❤️ -- source link
