theshadow365:May, 1933Shadow Case File #29Its interesting to note where the pulp version of The Shadow differs from the general perception of him. It is mostly assumed that the character is psychic with “the power to cloud men’s minds” and to appear and re-appear at will. However, these devices were really a creation of the radio program as an easier way for The Shadow to get to places quicker and, most importantly, pick up the pace of each program. The pulp character uses magic tricks, misdirection, and his own cunning to one up his hordes of enemies, not a latent psychic ability. Eventually, all of these traits became one and the character is now pretty much a combination of all of these elements. The 1994 movie starring Alec Baldwin is a perfect example of this. -- source link
