One of the biggest supports for taking care of my mental health was learning that we really just have experiences, inside or outside of our heads, and then we choose reactions to those experiences. And those reactions have very natural consequences. Some reactions might hurt us, or hurt others, or help us go wonderful places, or create feelings in our lives we don’t like, or disconnect us from reality, or create amazing things, or create big risks, or keep us at home, or get us injured, or make us very happy… But whatever it is, if we don’t like the natural consequences of our reactions, then we should probably choose different ways to react to the experiences we’re having.
