~Part 1~ Today was the first sunny day in a while, so my mother and I decided (okay, I decided) to visit one of the coolest places in Leicestershire - Bradgate Park. It’s home to many species of birds as well as herds of red and fallow deer. I’ll spare you the details about the place, but make sure you visit if you’re ever in the area. Anyway, I spent the happily day birdwatching and practising wildlife photography (which for now I do more for the record and less for the art). The species I’ve spotted and managed to identify were: Grey wagtail, Motacilla cinerea (not pictured) European goldfinch, Carduelis carduelis (not pictured) Common chaffinch, Fringilla coelebs (not pictured) Eurasian siskin, Carduelis spinus Blue tit, Cyanistes caeruleus House sparrow, Passer domesticus (not pictured) Redwing, Turdus iliacus Western jackdaw, Corvus monedula Carrion crow, Corvus corone Common wood pigeon, Columba palumbus (not pictured) Grey heron, Ardea cinerea (not pictured) Black-headed gull, Chroicocephalus ridibundus Mallard, Anas platyrhynchos Tufted duck, Aythya fuligula Mute swan, Cygnus olor Moorhen, Gallinula chloropus This list should be much longer, but I’m only a novice birder and I can only identify a couple of birds by hearing as of today. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the photographs. The hardware I used was Canon EOS 550D with a EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II lens. -- source link
