I mentioned a while ago that I had another pinniped on hold for me. I was told a few days ago that someone else was interested in it so, having just received my bursary, I decided to act quickly and snatch it up. And so here it is :) A beautiful skull of a harbour seal, Phoca vitulina. I don’t know the sex, but it is 21 cm long so a nice adult animal. There are some signs of wear on the teeth which, interestingly, makes them even sharper! One small bottom premolar is missing (not shown). It is slightly larger than my young grey seal and unmistakably different. I shall post comparison shots soon. I am falling more and more in love with pinnipeds and I’m really excited to add another representative of the earless seals to my collection. Let’s  one of my dreams will come true one day and I will obtain the elusive leopard seal! -- source link
